SPECIAL PANEL DISCUSSION HIGHLIGHT:
INSIDE THE FIGHT: TENNESSEE’S INSURANCE REFORM BATTLE AND WHAT’S NEXT!

One of the most anticipated sessions of the 2026 Tennessee Orthopaedic Society Annual Meeting will bring together the key leaders behind Tennessee’s insurance reform legislation for a candid discussion of the bill’s journey through the General Assembly, the challenges it faced, and the path forward.

REPRESENTATIVE
DAN HOWELL

Join the House and Senate sponsors of SB 2155/HB 2619, State Representative Dan Howell, Senator Bo Watson, TOS legislative advocates, representatives from the Tennessee Medical Association, and other physician leaders as they discuss the effort to address insurer downcoding, prior authorization, claims transparency, and payment accountability.

SENATOR
BO WATSON

This panel will provide an inside look at:
• How the legislation was developed and advanced through the legislative process
• The coalition of physicians and medical societies that supported reform
• The political and policy challenges that ultimately halted the bill
• What legislators and physician advocates learned from the effort
• Opportunities for future legislative and regulatory action

Whether you followed the bill closely or are interested in becoming more involved in physician advocacy, this session offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from the policymakers and healthcare leaders who were at the center of one of Tennessee’s most significant healthcare policy debates of the year.
