NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Orthopaedic Society (TOS) has named Eric N. Bowman, MD as its new president to serve through 2026.

Dr. Bowman is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and associate professor of orthopaedic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He specializes in the operative and nonoperative treatment of shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle conditions. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Campbell Clinic at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
Dr. Bowman serves as head team physician for the Nashville Sounds and is a consultant for the Milwaukee Brewers. He is also active in research and education, serving as associate director of sports education at Vanderbilt Orthopaedics and leading multicenter research efforts focused on elbow injuries in athletes.
As president, Dr. Bowman will help guide the society’s mission of supporting orthopaedic surgeons, promoting physician-led care and strengthening advocacy efforts that benefit patients and communities across Tennessee.
For the 2026–2027 term, the Tennessee Orthopaedic Society also named its full Board of Trustees, including President Eric N. Bowman, MD; President-Elect Chris Carver, MD; Secretary/Treasurer Kyle Kesler, MD; Immediate Past President and Board of Councilor Tyler Brolin, MD; and Board of Councilors, Philip Karpos, MD; Daniel Doty, MD; and John Crawford, MD. This leadership team will work collaboratively to advance the society’s mission, support its membership, and strengthen advocacy and educational efforts benefiting orthopaedic patients and communities across Tennessee.
Founded in 1948, TOS brings together a diverse community of orthopaedic specialists committed to excellence in patient care, lifelong learning and service to the profession. Currently, TOS is the leading professional organization representing orthopaedic surgeons across the state. The society works to advance the highest standards of musculoskeletal care through education, advocacy and collaboration.
